Expository

Carl Luce Expository Written by Yaleesmar Rivera and Gea Dávila:   Carl Luce is a secondary character in this novel called “The Catcher in the Rye” but he does not have much participation himself. This young man is 19 years old and is in a stage in which he is not an adult but he is not a child either. It is a difficult stage and the little ones will always look for him because they will see more confidence in him since he is almost his age. He always advises Holden and clearly, he shows us the real things in life and seeks to change the idealized view of Holden's youth. His conversations help Holden face his problems even though he doesn't believe them. The images on the blog should capture key moments and show Luce's character and growth. It's fascinating how literature can reflect real-life struggles and growth.

Expository

Carl Luce: Written by Gea D. Davila Casanova, Yaleesmar Rivera Rosa.  The content with the character is related since it shows an almost adult so to speak with a reflection of complexity and ambiguity of what adult life is. Although he contains a contrast with Holden Caulfield's simpler and more idealized vision of youth. The conversations they get show Holden's lack of maturity and responsibility. Carl touched on topics such as sexuality and identity which helps Holden with his internal struggle. The images describe events that occurred by Carl Luce and show what this character would be like. The images relate to the design and style of the character since the photos we chose have to do with the character and what he does and his environment. The blog shows the key elements of the novel through the character's expressions, his advice, his way of speaking and acting, and his development in the novel.

A little bit of me

The Catcher in the Rye  Written by Gea Dávila and Yaleesmar Rivera Carl Luce Hello, Carl Luce is reporting and I'm three years older than Holden. So, I'm 19 years old and I'm a student mentor at Whooton School. I study at Columbia University and am a resident of New York. I prefer Eastern philosophy to Western philosophy.

What is happening

Carl Luce     What's happening! It's me again, Carl Luce reporting. According to the boys and Holden I was always good at sex talk. I am very intelligent and sophisticated and I always have to offer my knowledge to Holden. He swears I'm a know-it-all. I can be cynical and world-weary at times when I talk to Holden about adulthood and all that stuff.

Important Things?

Carl Luce   Hello, I'm a little sad, this is unacceptable, but no way. I already left school and as I told you I am at Columbia University. We are in 1951 and the things I told you happen in New York, the famous city of the Big Apple or the city that never sleeps. Holden sought me out to talk about sexual issues. I see that you don't know that this makes me uncomfortable, I'm just not very detailed when talking about my sex life. Holden even suspects that I'm gay but I'm seeing an older Chinese woman. I was Holden's childhood friend but it's too much. I presented him with the possibility of looking for someone like his father.

Something of me

Carl Luce   Hey, just to tell you that I don't have favorite things, likes or preferences I'm more of a sounding board for Holden's thoughts and worries. And what do you like?

Ambition and dreams?

Carl Luce I forgot to say to all of you.  I don't say my ambitions or dreams either, but one piece of advice I could give to someone younger than me would be to practice more self-awareness and understanding (empathy).

More about me

Carl Luce    I serve as a source of advice and guidance to Holden Caulfield. I am represented as an intelligent and sophisticated individual and I do not detail my specific advice. One piece of advice I could give to someone younger might be to explore self-awareness and understanding.
